More Solar Joins Berks County Homescape

Homeowner Berks County signs up for a solar lease with GP. Energy.

Frustrated with the rising costs of home heating oil, Archie Hill of Kutztown, PA added 44 solar panels to the back of his garage roof so he could take energy costs and production into his own hands.

Hill worked with GP.Energy of Berwyn, Pa. for the installation of his solar energy system where he did a prepay, to secure the highest savings upfront.

The lease Hill used to incorporate solar onto his property includes 20 years of insurance and maintenance and also has a $0 down option for those looking for the least wallet-straining transition for creating their own electricity.

“I had oil heat, and oil was getting very expensive,” Hill reiterated about what inspired him to ‘go green’.

His 11.44 KW system is expected to almost eliminate his former annual KWH usage of 14,844.

“It’s a good investment because I think the electric itself is just going to keep going up, down the road,” Hill said, as a homeowner in Southeastern Pennsylvania. “Especially for this area, it’s a lot better than wind mills, for residential.”

Given that Hill wanted to get rid of his electric bill, he is now well on his way to that goal. With heating oil costs looming at several hundred dollars per filling, Hill knew he couldn’t do anything about that pricing. But he did recognize that going solar could make a difference for him.

His old electric bills averaged around $150 per month; with solar, that will dwindle to $16 per month.

Hill pointed out that he likes knowing he won’t have to worry about maintenance, since his lease through GP.Energy has that covered.
