There is a challenge to offer climatically neutral, safe, non-time invasive walking opportunities in the general adult population and this is certainly more critical to a larger degree for cancer survivors.

New research from Thomas Jefferson University has shown that a step-by-step approach to post operative cancer rehabilitation can increase energy levels as much as 27%. Offering a safe, weather- neutral walking opportunity with limited time demands is a challenge however. TrekDesk Treadmill Desks offer a unique solution to this problem.
The study, reported in the April issue of the Journal of American College Surgeons reported that patients who underwent cancer surgery and were then placed on a regular waking regimen experienced much less fatigue than sedentary cancer survivors.
The National Cancer Institute estimates that chronic fatigue affects up to 96% of individuals being treated for cancer. Naturally, physicians have learned to expect the fatigue in patients and see it as a normal occurrence rather than a symptom needing therapy. "Sometimes it's overlooked as normal and people tend to write it off," said the study's lead author Theresa P. Yeo, PhD, MPH, MSN, associate professor of nursing at the Thomas Jefferson University School of Nursing, Philadelphia. "But this is not the normal 'I-stayed-up-too-late' fatigue. It's really being exhausted, and it doesn't go away with sleep. It hits patients in their daily activities — simple things like doing your personal hygiene in the morning, getting up and getting dressed, going from the bedroom to wherever you eat breakfast."
It should also be noted that this type of fatigue can also lead to anxiety and depression which may have severe negative ramifications to recovery.
“There is a challenge to offer climatically neutral, safe, non-time demanding walking opportunities in the general adult population and this is certainly more critical to a larger degree for cancer survivors,” stated Steve Bordley, CEO of TrekDesk Treadmill Desks.
