Bulthaup Launches “Conventional Wisdom” Series Of Events - Debut in Los Angeles Features Five Course Meal by Renowned Chef Javier Plascencia

Kitchen designer and manufacturer, bulthaup, recently hosted the first in a series of events being rolled out in the U.S. titled “Conventional Wisdom.” The gatherings are an effort to bring together customers, architects, designers and others for fun, thought-provoking and interactive evenings at the company’s showrooms.

“Our first priority, on a daily basis and at these events, is to create an environment where people feel welcome and relaxed at our showrooms,” said David Westover, bulthaup’s U.S. CEO. “bulthaup is not some inaccessible design icon. We’re about creating living spaces that are meant to be used and enjoyed. These events are living proof of that philosophy.”

The debut gathering at bulthaup’s Los Angeles showrooom featured the culinary creations of chef Javier Plascencia. His five course menu titled “EL VERDE ES VIDA” highlighted gourmet foods and wine from the Baja region of Mexico.

“My inspiration for this event is the color green and how it is very present in Mexican cuisine,” said Chef Plascencia prior to the event. “El verde es vida, from green olives, nopales, avocado and tomatillo, to all the world’s wonderful herbs we use like cilantro, apazote, hoja santa and so on.”

Plascencia, a chef and restaurateur from Tijuana, Mexico, was recently featured in the New York Times, The New Yorker and Sunset Magazine. He is the mastermind behind Tijuana’s Mision 19 restaurant, among other ventures.

More than 50 guests attended the event. Future “Conventional Wisdom” events may include: insightful and inspired wine tastings with esteemed sommeliers; readings from noteworthy authors; presentations from award-winning architects, actors, musicians; and more. So stay tuned.
