In these pages, every single year, we bring you 100 new names, women in high-level positions affecting change in their industries and their communities...they are major Valley players you should know.

c3PR Public Relations and Marketing announced that Agency Founder and Principal Mar Junge has been selected as a 2012 Woman of Influence in Silicon Valley based on her leadership and service to her company, profession, and community. Ms. Junge and 99 other outstanding women are featured in a Women of Influence special publication in the April 6th issue of the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. In addition, the women will be honored at an awards dinner on April 26th at The Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, Calif.

According to a recent UC Davis and Watermark study, only 7.4 percent of Silicon Valley executives and board members are women. Statewide, that figure is not much better – only 9.7 percent.

“The caliber and the achievements of these 100 women prove the statistics coming out of UC Davis don't always give an accurate picture,” said Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal Assistant Managing Editor Shana Lynch. “In these pages, every single year, we bring you 100 new names, women in high-level positions affecting change in their industries and their communities. These are major influencers not highlighted in the UC Davis study, which only looks at public companies. But they are major Valley players you should know.”

Ms. Junge was nominated by her peers and then selected by a committee including Susan Black, President and CEO, Pinnacle Bank; Shelyna Brown, Judge, Santa Clara Superior Court; Diane Frankle, Partner, Kaye Scholer; Kathryn Jackson, CEO, Second Harvest Food Bank; and Hannah Kain, President and CEO, ALOM.

Profiles of this year’s honorees, including HP CEO Meg Whitman, Monterey Aquarium Executive Director Julie Packard and Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Rise Jones Pichon, are now available online. A complete list of all 500 winners over the past five years is available in the SV/SJ Business Journal database.
