Smartt, a consulting agency based in Vancouver, is helping CFO’s find a good return in their social media investments.
Just two months ago, the company delivered a presentation on social media ROI and best practices to a local group of Chief Financial Officers. The presentation was followed by an article in The Association of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia’s industry newsletter earlier this month. And last week, the Vancouver-based firm shocked local marketing companies with an ad besides BIV’s list of biggest web development companies in British Columbia. The ad’s message was, “Where’s the ROI, stupid?”
“No one should ever get a break on not delivering ROI,” says Martin Wong, CMO of Smartt. “With digital advertising, you can track absolutely everything from beginning to finish. We think it’s about time businesses paid more attention to how they are spending their marketing budgets. As Peter Drucker said, ‘What gets measured, gets managed.'”
The company plans to continue to target high-level executives who understand the importance of positive, measurable brand and business outcomes.
“We understand the importance of ROI because we are a company of business-minded folks,” says Wong. “I don’t think you can find many creative teams that get as excited as we do over a balance sheet or profit and loss analysis.”
