Harry Breslford, founder and charmain of SMB Nation, has received an appointment to the ITT School of Information Technology Program Advisory Committee. The committee, composed of business leaders and technology experts, advises ITT Technical Institute on the technical training and certifications that are most relevant to the needs of today’s employers.

Brelsford is new to the ITT community, but he has substantial experience in the field of higher education. He has taught for over 12 years as an adjunct professor at Alaska Computer Institute, Alaska Pacific University, Griffin College, Central Washington University and Seattle Pacific University. Most recently, he has served as the Dean for the School of Technology at Aspen University, an online accredited college.

“I’m excited about joining the ITT community,” said Brelsford. “With information technology undergoing such rapid changes, it’s important that our academic institutions stay connected to the greater business community. I look forward to being one of those bridges. I’m also thrilled to have the opportunity to help usher in the next generation of IT specialists.”

The ITT School of Information Technology already offers a wide variety of technical programs, but Brelsford hopes to help the committee develop proposals for integrating more material on mobile, distributed and cloud computing across the curriculum.

The School of Information Technology’s current offerings include two and four year degrees in numerous fields of study, including network systems administration, information systems, cyber security, computer forensics, mobile communications technology, web development, software development, software engineering and project management.

“I spend a lot of time traveling the country talking to IT professionals, especially those serving the SMB channel. One thing I’ve noticed is the SMB IT channel is starting to gray, so it’s important that we provide our youth with the education and experience necessary to support the SMB channel. ITT plays an important role in doing that.”
