Maine camps have long been recognized as the gold standard in the camp industry. With the perfect combination of natural beauty, strong traditions and values, and robust offering of activities, it’s no wonder that government officials, business leaders, Pulitzer Prize winners, athletes, entertainers, and other notable icons all chose to attend Maine camps, or send their kids there.

Camp owners and directors in Maine dedicated to providing the highest quality summer camp experiences formed the Maine Camp Experience (MCE) to collaborate year-round to review and exchange best camp practices. Members discuss everything from industry regulations to staff training techniques, program development, and even menu planning. The extent of collaboration is unique, and all MCE camps and campers benefit from these shared resources.

MCE created http://www.mainecampexperience.com to make it easier for prospective and returning families to select a camp and plan visits. The site is one-stop shopping – complete with a “personal guide” to assist you – where parents can learn about various camps, as well as find everything they need to plan a fun and memorable visit to Maine with their children. The tuition giveaways, just added to the site, is an additional benefit for families who will see that Summers and Camp Belong in Maine (sm)!

Maine camps provide families with a lifetime of traditions and memories. Lesley, a former Maine camper and now parent said, “As a parent I know now what a beautiful gift my parents gave to me by sending me to camp in Maine. When we started to look at camps for our daughter, one of the most important things was the location; it had to be in Maine. Each summer I have to get my Maine fix.” You can read many more first–hand stories direct from the hearts of Maine campers and their parents on the site’s “Memories of Camp” section at http://www.mainecampexperience.com/Camp-Reviews.

According to many campers, parents and alumni, getting to Maine is easy; it is leaving that is the hard part. As one former camper put it, “In Maine you fall in love with the crisp evening air and sun drenched pine needles, all surrounding deep blue lakes. Jog through the forest to stay fit for the tennis team, feel the freedom that only gliding across the lake in a sail fish can enlist within, or just try deciding which beautiful scene to paint.”
