We are very excited to receive Natrue certification of Zemea®, which is seeing widespread adoption in the global personal care market,” said Dave Wood, product director at DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products.

DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Company today announced that its breakthrough product, Zemea® propanediol, has been independently reviewed by Quality Assurance International(QAI) and certified as 100 percent derived natural ingredient by Natrue, an international non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of natural beauty and skin care products.

Zemea® is a natural, 100 percent biobased ingredient made from corn sugar through fermentation and developed for use in the cosmetics and personal care market. It is a high performance, environmentally sustainable alternative to petroleum-based glycols and glycerin, where the product’s lack of skin irritation, improved moisturization and excellent aesthetic properties are benefits. Zemea® also is approved as a natural ingredient by Ecocert, and the Natural Products Association, certified 100 percent biobased by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and has both Kosher and Halal certifications.

“We are very excited to receive Natrue certification of Zemea®, which is seeing widespread adoption in the global personal care market,” said Dave Wood, product director at DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products. “Companies who are seeking Natrue certification for their natural or organic products now have a certified glycol alternative to add to their formulator’s toolbox.”

“Certifications are an important element of the value Zemea® brings to our formulating customers. Consumers are more educated about the ingredients in the personal care products they purchase for themselves and their families. Certification labels provide added confidence to consumers that the product they are purchasing is made from natural ingredients,” commented Rose Durham, marketing manager at DuPont Tate & Lyle.
