“I was told it was like the TED conference, but cooler... and that seemed impossible! I’m pretty sure they have me confused with someone else, but, as an impressionist, I’m used to that..."

EG is the premiere gathering of and for innovators in media, technology, entertainment and education. The conference, held this year in Monterey, CA from April 12 - 15, explores creative enterprises by engaging a gifted mix of people, from rising stars to living national treasures. The attendees of EG are among the most industrious and iconoclastic talents of our time.
This year at EG, master impressionist Jim Meskimen, will be presenting his vocal expertise and samples from his live one-man show, JIMPRESSIONS, as well as acting as interviewer and online host for the event, which for the first time will be streaming live on the web.
Recently when Meskimen put up a YouTube video of himself reciting a speech from Shakespeare's Richard III in celebrity voices, he didn't expect it to become a web sensation; he was just trying to promote his one man show to a broader audience.
And when his follow-up video, Celebrity Alphabet hit two weeks ago, he didn’t expect it to go viral... in Australia.
And when Michael Hawley, the organizer of EG contacted him with an invitation to address the audience as a guest presenter, it was another unexpected pleasure.
“I was totally unaware that this conference existed,” said Meskimen, “I was told it was like the TED conference, but cooler... and that seemed impossible! I’m pretty sure they have me confused with someone else, but, as an impressionist, I’m used to that. I’m going so that I can listen and learn a few things.”
He will be joining the likes of NPR’s Scott Simon, Mythbuster’s Adam Savage, physicist Amory Lovins, Hugo author Brian Selznick, cardiac surgeon Ellsworth Wareham, and ocean rower Roz Savage, among others, as they share their work, insights and inspirations.
Calling himself the "Man of an Infinity of Voices", Meskimen has performed impressions on NBC series Parks & Recreation and Community, the British Whose Line is It, Anyway? and animated projects, including quintessential viral video This Land from Jibjab Media, with Meskimen providing the voices of George W. Bush, John Kerry, Bill Clinton and others.
His stage show, JIMPRESSIONS, takes a retro, 70's look at the art of celebrity impressions, and features over 75 different well known celebrity voices, from George Clooney and Orson Welles to Kevin Spacey and TCM’s Robert Osbourne, Robin Williams to Owen Wilson.
As for the future of his YouTube videos, Meskimen recently signed with Culver City based Maker Studios to produce a weekly slate of comedy videos for his channel, http://www.youtube.com/jimmeskimen.
“Shakespeare’s birthday is coming up, and I’m working up a way to honor that with another speech in a ton of celebrity voices, unusual, obscure ones. To paraphrase Will, ‘The Vlog’s the thing, wherein I’ll catch the conscience of the King!’”
