The £1 Million Challenge

It’s changed the lives of many individual animals.

Animal Friends Insurance developed the ‘Feel Good Factor’, a way of thinking and acting, helping animals around the world through charity and pet insurance to ensure better welfare for all. Animal Friends Insurance has donated over £750,000 to 173 different welfare charities. Policy holders and staff raise and donate money through a range of initiatives including Employee of the Month, a Facebook ‘Charity of the Month’ competition and charity affiliate links. Animal Friends donates £1 for every ‘like’ or ‘follow’ on Twitter and Facebook whilst actively encouraging people to get involved. Recently staff completed a 10k run sponsored by Animal Friends.

Elaine Fairfax, Founder and MD of Animal Friends said “I am absolutely thrilled to have reached donations of three quarters of a million pounds so quickly. We have been able to help so many really worthy causes it’s been hugely rewarding for all of us and I know it’s changed the lives of many individual animals that have been saved from a life of despair”.

One UK charity who has benefited from a donation from Animal Friends is Woodlands Animal Sanctuary (Holmeswood, Lancashire) who took part in the Charity of the month Facebook competition. Charities like Woodlands Animal Sanctuary keep going day by day on the belief that ‘saving just one animal won't make a difference to the world, but it will make a world of difference to that animal’.

In the wake of Halifax and Lloyds retreating from the pet insurance sector and with escalating vet fees and an increase in living costs, charitable donations are hit hard. Animal Friends is a specialist ethical pet Insurance company offering cover for dogs, cats and horses. It has grown into one of the largest independent pet insurance provider in the UK. Offering flexible pet insurance policies that in turn allow policy holders to donate to animal welfare and spread the ‘feel good’ message.

This project shows an all-round commitment to animal welfare, taking social, economic and environmental responsibility for animals in need. Of course, the money donated is generated by the people that take out policies with Animal Friends, every time someone takes out a policy they are donating to charity.

Animal Friends Insurance is now driving towards the ultimate goal of reaching the £1 million target. There are a number of ways that you can help reach this wonderful target. You can get involved by supporting Animal Friends, spread the word and share through social media. Let’s give the animal welfare world something to cheer about.
