DaVaughn Lucas has always been one to do things a bit outside the box. Lucas has recently launched his e-commerce company, My Hot Electronics that carries millions items from brands such as Sony, Apple, Microsoft, Cisco and others. Lucas also owns and operates the sportsfanplayground.com website, which specializes in the sales of team apparel and equipment from the NFL, MLB, NCAA, NBA, and others.
While developing the companies, Lucas has worked to develop an acting career through working on independent films, which paid off with his first network TV speaking role in 2010 in the show “Detroit 1-8-7.”
Recently, Lucas starred in the new online short film, “The Rivers Forever,” which was produced and directed in Michigan by Tim Nyquist and Guerilla Warfare Productions. The film is based around the story of a father (Lucas) trying to rebuild a bond with his son (Henry Ramsey) while trying to deal with a divorce situation with his wife (Carmen Adolphus).
How exactly does one go with the other?
While it has been a challenge to wear the business and entertainment hat, Lucas keeps a positive outlook and realizes that this is going to be the reality of today’s actor, especially growing up in Michigan. “With the economy in the shape it has been, its been tougher for actors to be successful in only one area. To survive, you have to be multidimensional or you will be left behind. An acting career could be short, but a strong side career can last for a very long time.”
