As part of its relocation to PPG Place in downtown Pittsburgh, dck worldwide made the decision to colocate its IT infrastructure in Ascent Data’s secure, redundant SSAE 16 Compliant data center.

dck worldwide, a global construction company with offices in Hawaii, Guam and the Caribbean, has relocated to new corporate headquarters in downtown Pittsburgh. As part of its relocation to PPG Place, dck worldwide made the decision to colocate its IT infrastructure in Ascent Data’s SSAE 16 Compliant data center.

dck worldwide previously hosted their IT infrastructure in-house in a server room. “The relocation provided an opportunity to evaluate alternative IT solutions, like virtualization and colocation, to achieve greater data security and redundancy,” said Linda Cwynar, director of IT at dck worldwide.

dck worldwide weighed the risks associated with housing their business critical data at their new office and concluded that even with their core expertise in construction, the scale of their needs and the capital expenditure to build a secure data facility with proper fire suppression, redundant UPS and HVAC, access control, and video surveillance was not a cost-effective solution.

“After speaking with other Ascent Data clients we found a common theme of customized solutions and personalized service. Our operation is global and our data is complex. Keeping our IT infrastructure up and running is critical to the successful, timely completion of projects around the world. Knowing that Ascent Data’s Network Operations Center is staffed around-the-clock provides peace of mind and allows me to focus on enhancing the technology of our business,” said Cwynar.

“Working with an innovative leader in global construction is a privilege and we are pleased to have been selected by dck worldwide. There is no greater compliment than the endorsement of your clients, which was a key factor in dck worldwide’s decision after considering a number of alternatives. It’s particularly rewarding to have been chosen by an organization that has so much internal expertise as it relates to facility construction, security and resilience. Ascent Data is poised to provide services that exceed dck worldwide’s expectations,” said Steve Shangold, CEO at Ascent Data.
