More than 500 artists will gather in Las Vegas April 12-25 for the 1st Annual Plein Air Convention & Expo, presented by PleinAir magazine publisher Streamline Publishing

More than 500 painters are expected to attend the 1st Annual Plein Air Convention and Expo in Las Vegas this week. This will be the largest gathering of impressionist plein air painters in history, and the first ever convention and expo of outdoor artists. The conference will take place at the Red Rock Casino and Resort in Las Vegas.

A worldwide resurgence in plein air painting led PleinAir magazine (outdoorpainter.com) to create the Plein Air Convention and Expo (pleinairconvention.com). Artists from North America, Russia, France, England, Ireland, Brazil, New Zealand, and other countries will gather from April 12-15. They will be painting en plein air at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and Spring Mountain Ranch on Saturday, April 14, and at Bonnie Springs Old Nevada on Sunday, April 15.

The Plein Air Convention represents an unprecedented opportunity for painters to exchange ideas and learn from top artists. The gathering will include not just painting, but painting demonstrations and lectures from some of the world's top painters and top art historians.

Highlights include:

Richard Ormond, grand-nephew of John Singer Sargent, is the world’s foremost expert on Sargent. Ormond, formerly director of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, England, is an independent art historian living in London.
