"We help international development organizations by providing customized protection against the dangerous exposures unique to operating in the Middle East, so that our comprehensive insurance provides them with financial cover against any uncertainty.”

Clements Worldwide, a leading provider of international insurance, delivered compelling case study examples on how to protect cross-border shipments with the right transit and cargo coverage, while addressing unique insurance issues for high-risk countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq, at a major industry roundtable here. Coinciding with the ninth annual Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development (DIHAD) conference, the roundtable attracted more than 40 leaders and decision-makers from several of the world’s most prominent international development companies. Those in attendance represented organizations from an extensive range of industries, including international security, fleet management, shipping and freight, distribution logistics, and reconstruction.

Keynote speaker Smita Malik, assistant vice president of commercial insurance at Clements, demonstrated the unique vulnerabilities inherent to operating in high risk regions by providing real case scenarios. Ms. Malik’s presentation provided valuable insights for the roundtable participants, who learned about innovative insurance solutions for major international cargo risks and other concerns relating to security warranties, storage periods at ports, shipment deliveries, inspection requirements, and limitations per conveyance. Featuring Clements’ comprehensive coverage policies for worldwide shipments, Ms. Malik demonstrated the ways in which effective insurance solutions can mitigate financial risk for any international organization.

On that note, Ms. Malik stressed the need for companies to consult with expert insurance providers regarding their coverage: “Since the risk landscape in Afghanistan and throughout the Middle East is more volatile than ever, organization should have insurance solutions specifically targeted to their needs. For example, we help international development organizations by providing customized protection against the dangerous exposures unique to operating in the Middle East, so that our comprehensive insurance provides them with financial cover against any uncertainty.” Malik adds, “since Clements is the only insurer specializing exclusively in international business for more than 65 years, we deliver the right coverage our clients need anywhere in the world, including in high-risk areas.”

Dubai has already played host to several Clements events this year, as the international insurer prepares to launch its newest operation there in late 2012. With Clements’ expansive customer base located in over 170 countries, the Dubai operation will provide customers in the Middle East with local access to Clements’ innovative international insurance products and best-in-class customer service.
