As we continue to advocate for gender diversity on corporate boards, we will also emphasize the need for diversity of thought and experience on boards and in executive suites in order to sustain high-performance companies.
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) April 11, 2012
The InterOrganization Network (ION) has appointed its new executive committee for 2012-2013. Sarah Meyerrose of CABLE (Nashville) has been named President of ION and will serve a two-year term. Additionally, the new slate of executive officers includes Jilaine Hummel Bauer of Milwaukee Women inc as Secretary and Terry Barclay of Inforum (Detroit) as Treasurer. Sara Meyer-Davis of Financial Women’s Association (New York City) and Constance Dierickx of the Board of Directors Network (Atlanta) were both appointed as Members-at-Large.
“There are many exciting things on the horizon for ION – and ultimately for the outstanding women leaders we support. As we continue to advocate for gender diversity on corporate boards, we will also emphasize the need for diversity of thought and experience on boards and in executive suites in order to sustain high-performance companies,” said Ms. Meyerrose. “With tens of thousands of men and women on our side, we’re grateful to the previous executive committee as well as our current and past board members for helping propel ION into a period of growth and innovation.”
Moving forward, ION will coordinate several initiatives, including:
- Increased outreach efforts to strengthen existing partnerships and develop new ventures with business, investment and government organizations, including Pax World, Governance Metrics International (GMI), Womenetics and several more
- Publicity of board search opportunities, including GMI’s Diverse Director Datasource (3D), to connect qualified diverse board candidates with companies, nominating committees and search firms
- Enhanced communication with existing and future member organizations to ensure women across the country have access to best practices for gender diversity
- Continued research to track women directors and executive officers of US public companies
ION, the InterOrganization Network, is a national nonprofit organization representing more than 10,000 women dedicated to increasing the number of women on for-profit boards and in executive suites. Formed in 2004, ION creates a national voice for its 15 regional member organizations to influence decision makers, build awareness of gender-diverse boards and expand opportunities and connections for executive women. ION’s founding partner is KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm and U.S. member firm of KPMG International. ION recently published its eighth annual status report of women directors and executive officers of public companies in 14 regions of the U.S., highlighting opportunities for both organizations and individuals to diversify the composition of national corporate leadership.
