Prairie Housing Services Developing Unique Dual-Use Lots; Project Helps City Meet Economic Growth Plans.

Robust growth near Watford City, North Dakota has spiked demand for quality employee housing and commercial space that can be utilized for storage and/or equipment maintenance. The innovative Rolling Prairie Commercial Plaza opening in Watford City this June addresses these parallel issues and aligns with the city’s growth plans.

Developed by Prairie Housing Services, LLC, the new complex provides dual-use lots that are two to four acres in size with two permanent structures for temporary employee housing and offices, as well as dedicated warehouse and maintenance facilities. Companies who lease the sites for primary or satellite locations can also accommodate trailer-truck parking onsite, too. Prairie Housing Services can customize the site for each company’s specific business requirements.

“This is an innovative concept that grew from our customers’ input,” said Pat Hughes, CEO of Prairie Housing Services. “They told us what kind of development and amenities they need to operate effectively and efficiently out of Watford City, and that’s what we’ve built. Their input is also why each company uses its lot exclusively, giving them control of how the space is utilized. That’s a big benefit.”

The Commercial Plaza augments the successful Rolling Prairie Homes mobile home community development already open in Watford. This new phase continues to emphasize quality construction, thoughtful amenities, and attractive landscaping. Onsite management and maintenance also support the development.

Watford City, centrally located between Williston, Dickinson and Minot, has welcomed the commercial development as part of its plans for economic growth. “We are proud of the relationship that we have with the city,” added Hughes. “Rolling Prairie Commercial Plaza is a win-win for companies doing business in the area and for Watford City residents. It’s the new benchmark here for private enterprise and community leadership working collaboratively to address a serious growth hurdle.”

Sites will be available June 1, 2012. Prairie Housing Services began leasing to qualified companies this spring and a few lots remain available. For more information, contact Prairie Housing locally at (701) 444-HOME or visit the website at
