Andrew Hawley, from Vintage Rock Posters, is a serious collector of vintage 1950's and 1960's fillmore era concert posters. Hawley announces his search for the Bob Dylan Richmond Mosque Concert Poster. This concert was held on February 11, 1966. According to Hawley, “In the early 1960s, Dylan had been labeled the spokesman for a generation with his folk song writing. His folk singing mantle changed at the Newport Folk Festival when Dylan picked up an electric guitar. He was actually booed at the festival. Subsequent concerts that year audiences were adjusting to his new electric style. The Richmond concert was a smash success with a long line for tickets extending out the door into the street. Dylan did one acoustic set and then played electric during the second set with his band The Hawks. Dylan would play The Norfolk Arena the next night. The tour continued to Memphis, Seattle, Vancouver, and Portland that year.”
Hawley continues, “This fillmore era poster measures 14x22 inches and was printed by the Murray Poster Company based in New York City. The poster features an artistic shot of Dylan with a cigarette hanging from his harmonica brace. This photo was taken by legendary Dylan photographer Daniel Kramer. This poster layout was used for most venues on Dylan's 1966 American concert tour. There were 150 posters printed for the Dylan Richmond Mosque concert. They were hung in local record store and barbershop windows. The posters were also hung up at Thailhaimers. A popular Richmond based department store.”
Hawley is willing to pay $5,000 cash for this and other Bob Dylan concert posters for shows between 1964 and 1966. Any condition accepted. If you have a vintage Dylan concert poster, please call Hawley at 310-346-1965 or email Hawley at andrew(at)vintageconcertposterbuyer(dot)com.
