The Groundbreaking Road Map to Sustainable Business Results will be presented by Dr. John Boudreau

The HRPS (Human Resources People & Strategy) St. Louis will be hosting a Symposium at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac, 1335 South Lindbergh, St. Louis, MO 63131 from 8-11 AM on May 16, 2012. Towers Watson, a long-standing supporter of the St. Louis affiliate of HRPS, is a platinum-level sponsor of this event.

Dr. John Boudreau is recognized worldwide for breakthrough research on the bridge between superior human capital, talent and sustainable competitive advantage. His research has received the Academy of Management's Organizational Behavior New Concept and Human Resource Scholarly Contribution awards.

"Transformative HR: How Great Companies Use Evidence-based Change for Sustainable Advantage" reveals a groundbreaking road map to sustainable business results for organizations faced with the growing complexity of the modern workforce and the challenges of a global economy. Dr. Boudreau, in partnership with Towers-Watson, will demonstrate how HR executives can reaffirm their influence and business leadership by using analytical discipline and sophisticated systems thinking in their human capital decisions.

According to Ravin Jesuthasan, CFA, Managing Director, Towers Watson, and co-author of the book, “Transformative HR speaks to the next phase of the evolution of the HR profession where we evolve beyond the efficient delivery of services to enabling and educating business leaders to make better decisions about their talent; i.e., HR transforming the organization. John and I set out to write a book about not just what companies should do but “how” they can deliver sustained evidence-based change by pulling on the levers of leadership, measurement, technology, and change management. The 10 companies profiled provide great examples of the “how” in a myriad of business, cultural and environmental settings.”

From an academic perspective, Lee J. Konczak, a faculty member from Washington University in St. Louis, Olin Business School, says, “Highly effective HR executives understand the importance of context: What’s the business situation and what is needed from an HR standpoint to drive business success? The work of John Boudreau and his colleagues provides a unique way of thinking about how HR leaders can provide contextually relevant, evidence-based interventions that replace gut feel and anecdotes with rigor, logic and facts.”

Steve Smith, Principal, Talent Management, Edward Jones, states, “With the vast majority of our dollars invested in people (salary, benefits, and development) and 100% of our client value delivered through people, HR must provide insights based on fact and rigor that translate into long-term business solutions. Evidence-based change provides a methodology and integrates HR practices in a way that makes sense to the leaders we support.”

Due to the shifting economic and other factors, there is a keen focus emerging on optimum practices for creating, investing, managing and measuring strategic initiatives. Human capital is one of the critical elements for any business.
