Authr.com today announced the official launch of its crowd-funding site for aspiring authors to raise funds to get their books published. With the increased popularity of crowd funding for business ideas and projects, Authr.com is currently the only site to concentrate entirely on book funding for authors and writers. Authr.com today announced the official launch of its crowd-funding site for aspiring authors to raise funds to get their books published. With the increased popularity of crowd funding for business ideas and projects, Authr.com is currently the only site to concentrate entirely on book funding for authors and writers. The Authr.com fundraising platform differentiates itself from other crowd-funding sites by continuing to support authors beyond fundraising as their book project transitions to pre-orders and sales once their book is published.

“We don’t take a percentage of fundraising dollars like other crowd-funding sites. Our authors are always in control of the money they raise. Even if they don’t reach their full goal, our authors can keep what they have successfully raised,” says Authr.com founder, Erik Bowman.

Since 2005, Bowman has provided book consulting, development and publishing services for individuals. A best-selling author and serial entrepreneur, Bowman knows what it’s like to get startup projects off the ground through fundraising and bootstrapping. “I’ve come across so many clients and friends who have always wanted to achieve their dream of writing a book one day. The biggest obstacle they seem to run into is funding.”

The site charges a low monthly fee and people can check out the service first for free. Book projects can be shared to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Tumblr and Pinterest which authors can use to drum up support and continue to promote their book to encourage sales. The site also offers a QR code service to add interactive bonus materials to published books.

Since Authr.com focuses on crowd-funding for book projects only, the site can be used by customers who already have a publisher lined up or by those looking for indie- and self-publishing houses. Customers using the Authr.com site through a referring publisher are directed to the publisher’s cobranded author page at the site. Ghostwriters, copy editors, book marketing and publishing professionals can also become business partners at Authr.com.

Headquartered in Redondo Beach, CA, Authr.com helps authors fund their next book project and was founded by Erik Bowman in 2011 in response to a need to help aspiring authors remove the funding roadblocks that are in the way of getting their books published.
