This new e-learning trial offers Security+ students the chance to further develop their skills and knowledge, ensuring that they are fully prepared for high profile roles within organisations across the world.
(PRWEB UK) 16 April 2012
Students enrolling on Home Learning College’s Security+ course over the next few weeks will be invited to join beta trials of a new e-learning package developed by IT awarding body CompTIA. Security+ accreditation from CompTIA demonstrates competency in identifying and preventing a wide range of IT security threats. The e-learning tools on trial comprise a downloadable e-book, video tutorials, online activities and self tests, which complement Home Learning College’s course materials. Limited places on the trial are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
The CompTIA Security+ syllabus covers a range of topics including network security, compliance and operational security, threats and vulnerabilities, application, data and host security, cryptography, access control and identity management. Students taking part in the trial will have their progress monitored anonymously throughout the course, and might be invited to provide first hand feedback on their experiences.
In addition to the new e-learning resources, Home Learning College Security+ students receive two years’ tutorial support delivered by phone and email. They also benefit from access to a vibrant online learning platform where they can participate in live classes, access digital copies of their course books and take part in forums with tutors and fellow students. Exam fees are included and an optional student discount card and career management services are available.
By the end of the course, students will be able to proactively implement sound security protocols to mitigate security risks, respond rapidly to security issues, retroactively identify where security breaches may have occurred and design secure networks, onsite or in the cloud. They will also be in a position to take CompTIA exam SYO-301, leading to Security+ certification.
CompTIA Security+ is supported by top technology companies and other organisations for which information security is of primary importance. HP, IBM, Motorola, Symantec and Boeing are just some of the companies that have participated in the development of the CompTIA Security+ exam.
“Home Learning College in an accredited CompTIA training partner, and together we are committed to delivering highly effective IT study programmes,” says Dave Snow, Academic Director at Home Learning College. “This new e-learning trial offers Security+ students the chance to further develop their skills and knowledge, ensuring that they are fully prepared for high profile roles within organisations across the world.”
