When Avon Impulse author Lena Diaz sat down to write romance novels, dead bodies kept popping up in her stories, so she decided to combine murder mystery with her love of romance. After her debut novel HE KILLS ME, HE KILLS ME NOT, received much reader and critical acclaim, she’s kept the suspense level at a fever pitch with SIMON SAYS DIE, on sale now from Avon Impulse (9780062136329; $3.99).
This heartfelt, but intense romantic suspense follows Madison McKinley from the terror of having a stalker to finally finding safe harbor in the arms of the man she loves.
Industry reviewers and readers alike have taken to SIMON SAYS DIE. Library Journal calls heroine Madison McKinley “a fun, strong-willed woman,” and says the novel is “a good sunny-day-in-the-lawn-chair read.”
Amy Valentini, a member of Avon’s team of dedicated readers known as the Avon Addicts, says SIMON SAYS DIE is a “gripping romance thriller that will have you hooked from the first words.”
“With shows like NCIS and CSI dominating the ratings, it’s no wonder readers are looking to their books for those same kind of thrills,” Esi Sogah, an associate editor at Avon Books, said. “Lena Diaz’s books are perfect because they blend all the heart-stopping action of those shows with romances…well, to die for.”
Madison McKinley knows that someone is stalking her, and is almost positive that the stalker is her dead husband, Damon. But no one believes her claims, not even the police, who are too busy chasing the “Simon Says” killer to investigate. Madison’s life is falling apart, and her terror grows day by day. Having her ex-boyfriend, FBI Agent Pierce Buchanan, back in the picture isn’t making matters any easier.
As the bodies begin to pile up, the police finally turn their attention to Madison—as the suspect. Madison has no idea how to prove her innocence. As everything spirals out of control, Madison struggles to clear her name, find the killer, and not freak out over the discovery that that her feelings for Pierce never went away.
Pierce still loves Madison, and his drive to protect her is stronger than ever. But after hearing countless lies from her, and with all evidence pointing to her guilt, he doesn’t know if he can ever truly trust her again. Madison tries to be honest, but some secrets are better left hidden. Was Pierce a fool to trust her again, or are they both caught in a complex game that neither will survive?
