Following in the footsteps of strong-willed yet compassionate women in history such as Florence Nightingale, Joan of Arc and Jennie Hodgers, author Klaudia Zec Djuranic braved her way amidst difficulties and encumbrances in chasing liberty. A masterfully drawn and intimate portrait of a life truly lived comes this way from Djuranic in Journey to Freedom.
Journey to Freedom chronicles the sojourn of a determined young lady from war-torn Yugoslavia in the 1960s. In this candid autobiographical narrative, the reader will come across Djuranic who walked miles to reach school, never faltering along the way, and was condemned and condoned by her parents and the rest of her kin. Despite it all, she persevered and went against her mother’s wishes in attending an economics class. Upon reaching the class, Djuranic found herself at another crossroads as the only classes left were for nursing – little did the young lady know that it was already fate unfolding before her. A fresh take on life bides in a new country which is an ocean away.
The reader’s attention will be caught right away upon sifting through the first pages of Journey to Freedom. In this page-turning true story of a young woman’s escape from a communist nation after the Second World War, one will come across an adventure story and a romance tale; a gripping thriller and a philosophical work.
Marvelously chronicled, Journey to Freedom paints a genuinely engaging tale of a woman who overcame adversity through faith, dedication and passion.
