Potholes can affect all vehicles whether they’re new or old, so we welcome any moves to improve road surfaces for motorists
(PRWEB UK) 16 April 2012
Potholes can prove to be a big problem for motorists as they threaten to damage tyres, wheels and other vital parts of a vehicle.
The government has recently announced plans to pump £6 million into a Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme to tackle the UK’s growing pothole problem. The UK’s leading car finance website Car Loan 4U comments on the government proposals.
The Pothole Review * by the Department for Transport (DfT) found that severe winter weather has caused significant damage to British roads, creating a number of potholes. Potholes are one of the public’s major concerns locally.
Car Loan 4U Co-Director Ryan Dignan comments;
“The government is finally acting on the public’s wishes to address potholes. Surveys** consistently show that the poor quality of roads, footways and cycle paths are a major concern for the nation.
“Local roads are falling apart and this could cause some serious damage to vehicles which leaves motorists footing the bill. Potholes can affect all vehicles whether they’re new or old, so we welcome any moves to improve road surfaces for motorists."
Car finance experts Car Loan 4U offer some top tips to conquer pothole hitches:
How to deal with potholes
- Whenever possible avoid driving over a pothole as they can give you an instant flat tyre.
- Drive slowly as your car’s shock absorbers and suspension system could also be at risk of damage.
- Check your tyre pressure as a soft tyre can rip after a sudden bump.
- Watch out for puddles as a pothole might be lurking underneath.
