Bishop Cynthia King Bolden Gardner, J.D., humorously and painstakingly delineates the Isaiah 59:21 transformations of seed from a sinful, inglorious existence to that of an eternal and glorious life in the Kingdom of God. Through this work she seeks to provide Christians hope for tomorrow, joy and strength for the current day’s struggles and the capacity to laugh at their less than pristine past. We are overcomers. Press on (Phillipians 3)! In the end, you will make it in!
Kingdom Seed actually consists of six distinct, yet interconnected, books:
“Woman, Behold Thyself!” highlights the role of Biblical women, encourages introspection, and the acceptance of responsibility for our male children and counterparts. We are our sisters’ and brothers’ keepers Cain!
“Castaway Cradles” charts the historical and current deplorable state of, and harsh realities confronting ,our children subjected to the likes of Pharoah and Herod, who still seek to slay them. We look at the valiant efforts of the prototypes Hagar, Hannah, Jochebed, and Mary as they seek to deliver Ishmael, Ichabod, Jabez, Moses and the Christ child.
“Lot: Generational Mutations” starts in Genesis, looking at the mishaps of our forefathers that incur curses that inevitably lead to the near destruction of Lot and his progeny. We must count the prospective spiritual costs of our present decisions. History does repeat itself.
“Miscreant Seed: Carnivorous Christianity” takes a sharp, jocular look at so called “church folk”, wolves in sheeps’ clothing, the little foxes that spoil the vine, and how these deceitful people twist the Word for their gain. They seek to justify covetousness, greed and treachery as the will of God. These devourers must be rebuked, chastened, restored to the fold.
“Mustard Seed” recounts the lessons of indomitable faith and Christ’s response to it. Miracles still happen. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
“Seed: Planting the Heavens” explains that a Christian’s sole (or soul) purpose is to make it home, becoming one with the Holy Trinity.
Readers will appreciate the in-depth scrutiny and powerful research conducted on these exhilarating topics. Though the matters handled are of great spiritual and instructional significance, Bishop manages to keep a light-hearted, sometimes hilarious mood in her writing. Kingdom Seed makes for a timeless and effective companion, shining the light of modernity on important truths found in the Bible.
