The lawsuit alleges that negligence on the part of Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center led to falls that resulted in severe and permanent personal injuries to the Plaintiff.

Parker Waichman LLP, a national law firm dedicated to protecting the rights of nursing home abuse and negligence victims, has filed suit on behalf of a Nassau County woman who was injured in several falls she suffered while residing at Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at 645 West Broadway, Long Beach, New York. The complaint, which was filed in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Nassau County, names Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Inc. as a Defendant (Index No. 3207/12 ).

According to the complaint, the Plaintiff was admitted to and resided at the Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center from August 21, 2008 through February 10, 2010 and February 15, 2010 through August 22, 2010. The Plaintiff suffered falls on March 24, 2010, May 3, 2010, and August 22, 2010. The lawsuit alleges that each of the falls resulted in severe and permanent personal injuries to the Plaintiff.

The lawsuit claims that during her stay at the facility, the Plaintiff suffered dehydration, permanent disfigurement, and other injuries caused by the negligence of Defendant. As a result, the Plaintiff was forced to undergo medical treatment, incurred medical expense, suffered disfigurement, disability, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and loss of dignity. The complaint further alleges, among other things, that the Defendant had notice of the Plaintiff's propensities to fall and the need of appropriate interventions to prevent the falls and did not implement appropriate interventions.

The lawsuit charges the Defendant with violations of the New York Public Health Law, Negligence and Gross Negligence. The Plaintiff is seeking an award of compensatory damages, as well as punitive damages, and attorneys fees and costs.
