The main training courses offered include:

1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work - HSE Approved

Employers have to risk assess their workplace first aid requirements, and the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification is one of the statutory qualifications for this purpose. This is a 6 hour - One day First aid course which is approved by the Health and Safety Executive.

You might decide that you need a first-aider. This is someone who has been trained by an approved organisation and holds a qualification in first aid at work or emergency first aid at work. If you have identified that you need first-aiders, we've provided information on the requirements for training them.

We can deliver 'onsite training' at your business workplace.

Course content:

  •     Understanding the role of the first aider, which includes duties and responsibilities and the importance of recording all accidents / incidents.
  •     Managing an Unresponsive Casualty who is not Breathing Normally.
  •     Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
  •     How to prioritise the order of treatment in an an emergency.
  •     Demonstrate CPR for an unconscious non breathing casualty.
  •     Ability to administer emergency first aid to a casualty with serious bleeding and/or who is in shock.
  •     Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking.
  •     Where you stand legally for administering first aid.
  •     The first aid equipment that should be available.
  •     Dealing with other medical emergencies such as Heart attack, Asthma, Diabetes.
  •     Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (over 90% of first aid treatment).

Duration - One day (6 hours)

Assessment - Delegates will be continually assessed by their tutor throughout the course.

Certification - will receive a book and a HSE Approved Certificate (Upon successful completion of the training).

3 Day First Aid at Work - HSE Approved

This is a Three Day HSE approved First Aid at work course. The first aid course can be delivered on site at any location in the UK. Only HSE approved training organisations are permitted to carry out this course, which guarantees you the reassurance that the standard of training is of a high quality.

We can deliver 'onsite training' at your business workplace.

Course content:

  •     Reporting accidents/incidents. Accident book/ RIDDOR.
  •     The Priorities of first aid, including the 4 B's.
  •     Actions to deal with wounds & serious bleeding.
  •     Introductory training with the automated defibrillator (AED).
  •     Compression.
  •     Recognising a variety of medical conditions, including anaphylaxis and asthma.
  •     The unconscious casualty and how to treat them.
  •     Concussion.
  •     Looking after a casualty who is shocked.
  •     Stroke.
  •     The treatment of broken bones and soft tissue injuries such as strains and sprains.
  •     Treating someone who has stopped breathing and whose heart has stopped/ CPR.
  •     The treatment of burns and scalds.
  •     Diabetes.
  •     Epilepsy.
  •     Poisoning and the treatment of.

Course duration - Three Days

Assessment - Delegates will be assessed throughout the course and will be externally

assessed at the end of the Course.

2 Day First Aid at Work - refresher - HSE Approved

This is a two day first aid at work re-qualifying course as required by the First Aid Regulations. It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers provide a safe and healthy environment to work in. If your assessment of First Aid needs highlights the need to maintain the qualification of your First Aiders, then this course will provide you with that.

This comprehensive 2 day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. In addition to this, should there have been any change to protocols during their initial qualification, then this will be updated.

This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Course content:

The delegate will be taught in the following key areas based on first aid in the workplace. The course will be tailored to individual workplaces where appropriate.

Subjects taught:

  •     Legislation/ Record Keeping

Course duration - Two Days

Assessment - Delegates will be continually assessed by their tutor throughout the course. At the end of the course delegates will be assessed twice in their practical skills (CPR & Injury) by external assessor(s). Upon successful completion of these assessments the delegate will be awarded a HSE First Aid at Work certificate which will be valid for three years.

Certification - Successful delegates will be presented with a qualification lasting 3 years, a first aid manual and a HSE approved certificate upon successful completion of the course.

Paediatric first aid Courses - OFSTED Approved

First Aid Courses Manchester provide this 12-Hour course that ensures you meet the requirements of your registration as an early years provider as well as ensuring you receive the training required to deal with young children in an emergency situation.

The Paediatric First Aid Course is designed at giving parents and carer’s confidence, practical ability and knowledge of dealing with ill and injured children and babies.

OFSTED approved Paediatric first aid courses can be run at your premises. The course last 2 days (12 hours), in accordance with OFSTED guidance. The training includes all the areas listed below in the course content. This course can be run anywhere in the UK.

Course content:

  •     First Aid for specific medical conditions, epilepsy, diabetes, allergies, asthma, meningitis, sickle cell & haemophilia.

  •     Dealing with infantile convulsions and febrile fits.

1 day Paediatric first aid courses are aslo offered and cover the same topics as the 2 day course, however this course is not OFSTED approved.
