Visitors hungry for something new on the beautiful island of Hawaii can sample the fresh, new fare available at the Kalanikai Beach Bar and Kamaaina Terrace restaurant located at the Keauhou Beach Resort. The two eateries offer simple but sumptuous options that give travelers a taste of the island’s fresh fish, local beef and Hawaii-grown produce.

Beach-goers taking a break from the sun and surf at neighboring Kahaluu Beach Park can stop by the recently opened Kalanikai Beach Bar to enjoy popular midday fare including a selection of burgers, sandwiches, wraps and salads. All burgers are made with 100 percent local Hawaii Island beef and include fun twists, like the Paniolo burger with bacon, onion rings, pickled jalapeños and pepper jack cheese topped with barbeque sauce. For a lighter meal, diners will find freshly made salads like ginger-soy chicken salad with mixed greens, bell pepper, cucumber, onion and crispy won ton strips with a sesame dressing, or a Greek-inspired Keauhou Beach salad with homemade hummus, cucumber, kalamata olives and feta cheese. Patrons can also toast the sunny Kona weather over tropical cocktails or locally brewed beers while overlooking the stunning shoreline. Kalanikai Beach Bar is open daily from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Kamaaina Terrace has expanded its dining options to provide weekend dinners, set to the panoramic views of the Kona coastline. Start the meal with a salad of locally raised tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, shaved shallots and basil vinaigrette. Then move on to entrée offerings including pork loin stuffed with garlic and herbs, fresh fish grilled in an Asian ginger caramel sauce or shrimp and scallop linguine served with a roasted garlic sauce. And to end the night on a sweet note, diners can indulge with a Kona mud pie, a decadent creation of coffee ice cream cake, chocolate sauce, macadamia nuts and whipped cream layered in an Oreo cookie crust. The Kamaaina Terrace is open for dinner Thursday through Saturday, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
