Vela Research® announced its exciting, super-compact hardware solution for transcoding and trans-rating content of most commercial forms into the format, resolution, bit-rate or frame-rate desired for maximizing the utility and value of unique content. The UltraStreamHD IP2IP is a real-time solution that can be used in a plethora of demanding environments – from Broadcasting, Cable TV, OTT, IPTV to even content distribution, creation of multiple highly-usable and archival versions of a piece of valuable, unique or original content – to digital signage, enterprise content distribution , education and surveillance applications.
Vela’s UltraStreamHD IP2IP transcoder is a very compact, elegant, and intuitive solution based upon Vela’s Emmy award winning video processing technology, and utilizes a System on IC design to eliminate the need for a host PC. Designed to stand out for its ability to be integrated into existing workflows, to be turned up for operation very quickly – and for its sheer simplicity, the IP2IP enables high performance, continuous transcoding and trans-rating, with very high quality video at extremely low bitrates – and is ideally suited for live events and streaming applications – as well as providing a price competitive solution for traditional OTT, Broadcast, Cable, VOD, video distribution, education, defense and healthcare applications. The IP2IP is DC-powered, comes in a compact 4.75” x 4.25” form factor – and is designed to operate in a plug-and-play, non-stop operation, low power consumption mode.
The following are some of the transcoding options offered by the UltraStreamHD IP2IP:
- MPEG-2 HD/SD to AVC/H.264 HD/SD
- MPEG-2 HD/SD to MPEG-4 SP/ASP
- AVC/H.264 HD/SD to MPEG-2 HD/SD
- AVC/H.264 HD/SD to MPEG-4 AP/ASP
- VC-1 HD/SD to AVC/H.264 HD/SD
- VC-1 HD/SD tp <PEG-2 HD/SD
- MPEG-4 SP/ASP to MPEG-2
- MPEG-4 SP/ASP to AVC/H.264
- DIVX to MPEG-2 or AVC/H.264
- XVID to MPEG-2 or AVC/H.264
Mike Reddy, President & CEO of Vela said, “we are thrilled to present this compact and highly usable, versatile, easily deployable solution to enable customers to take a single piece of content and play it up into a myriad of versions each configured to meet the requirements of a different revenue-generating application. The UltraStreamHD IP2IP is a cost-effective solution that is elegant and simple – and offers real-time, continuous operation, runs on DC, consumes very little power and offers operators the ability to achieve significant channel density. Designed with the complex streaming requirements of large scale deployments and service-provider environments in mind, the IP2IP offers users the ability to transcode and transrate between a very wide range of commercially viable formats, bitrates, resolutions and frame rates. Vela continues its tradition of designing and bringing to its OTT, broadcast, cable, video distribution, VOD and other demanding customers, solutions that offer the highest performance - to ensure that each solution integrates seamlessly into operators’ workflow and minimizes the need for extraneous equipment.”
Kevin Grubbs, Vela’s Director of Engineering, said “the UltraStreamHD IP2IP consumes less than 15 watts of power per channel, provides a high level of video quality, and provides full broadcast quality transcoding from full 1080P60 all the way down to resolutions as low as 160x120 for mobile platform content. The UltraStreamHD IP2IP supports other features such as an HDMI video output for input confidence monitoring, USB and SATA connections for local content storage, and a four (4) pin power connector for local hard drive or solid state drive power. The IP2IP supports streaming via IP in Unicast or Multicast modes using UDP or RTP and RTSP.”
