Edge Factor is a film project whose purpose is to engage youth in hands-on experiences in manufacturing.
‘Reality Redesigned,’ a manufacturing design competition with a reality-show twist, is aimed at fostering a revolutionized image of manufacturing. Its intent is to unlock the ‘fascinating world of manufacturing’ to the next generation. It offers students across North America an opportunity to submit innovative designs for mountain bike parts in one of three categories: frame, suspension or components. Their designs are judged on form, fit and function. Contestants have entered for their chance to work with some of the top leaders in the mountain bike industry and win prizes.

The judging process for each of the top 9 designs in the “Reality Redesigned’competition will be released through a video series called The GAUNTLET, beginning April 23rd. On May 24, the top 3 winners will be announced at the SME RAPID Expo, May 22-25, 2012 in Atlanta. The top nine finalists all will receive an HD Drift Camera, while the three winners will win over $40,000 worth of prizes, with $8,000 as the Grand Prize.
