Our long-term partnership is a key factor in the success of our business initiatives.

Avatar New York announces the launch of Mohawk’s new eCommerce and marketing website at http://www.mohawkconnects.com. The new website consolidates several Mohawk online properties into one and represents the culmination of a 6-year partnership, with the web development firm as the primary vendor building and managing the online platforms crucial to supporting Mohawk’s ever-growing and evolving business operations.

“Our long-term partnership is a key factor in the success of our business initiatives. Avatar New York’s unique and in-depth understanding of our business and technology needs provides a stable hub that pulls together everything we do online,” says Interactive Marketing Manager, Hilary Davis.

As a leading manufacturer of premium and fine printing papers, Mohawk serves a diverse customer demographic that not only demands the highest in product quality and customer service, but demands it in different ways.

“Critical to consolidating Mohawk’s online properties into a single site was the understanding of not only what goals their customer groups want to accomplish on the site, but also how they want to go about accomplishing those goals,” says Patrick Tully, Avatar New York’s Chief Technology Officer. “We developed an advanced custom application with a multifaceted set of online tools to power a rich and rewarding shopping experience.”

The company’s new website brings together Mohawk’s business-to-business and consumer e-commerce services under one roof, allowing Mohawk to market and sell their many paper products as well as offer comprehensive product information within a single and easy to navigate user interface. In addition, the website reflects Mohawk’s strategic consolidation of core paper lines, with easy to use tools to help consumers understand this consolidation.

“Introducing new and flexible technology platforms into our online infrastructure was key to making this project a success now and into the future. Avatar New York worked with us throughout the project to advise us on many technology issues,” says Davis.

The new Mohawk website was built using Drupal, although Mohawk’s robust set of user features and varied product offerings required significant custom front- and back-end development. In addition to a Drupal CMS platform, Mohawk's technology infrastructure includes

“We are very cognizant of the fact that the infrastructure and technology platforms built for Mohawk today represent a large investment in consolidating their current business operations, but also in the future direction and success of their company,” says Tully.

“We appreciate the trust Mohawk has shown our company. The success of our relationship with Mohawk is not only based on our ability to ‘get the job done’, but perhaps, more importantly, on our common standards of excellence and responsibility. The quality of our partnership reflects the quality of the products we both provide in our respective industries. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Mohawk as they add new features and evolve their business and website.”

The new web site launches today and coincides with a shortening of the company’s official name to Mohawk and the rollout of a new brand identity designed by Michael Beirut at Pentagram. Hydrant provided digital strategy; requirements definition; a complete re-architecture and visual redesign of the site; and copywriting services.
