Newest Senior Housing Facility to join Eagleview ( Chester County, PA)

The Hankin Group announces the opening of its newest senior housing unit, the Bernard Hankin Senior Housing Facility, on May 16, 2012. Residents will begin to occupy the facility one month prior to that date. The Bernard Hankin Building joins its sister structure, the Potter Building (erected in 1997), to become two leaders in affordable senior housing for residents of Chester County. The buildings, named for the founder of the Hankin Group (Bernard Hankin) and his wife (Henrietta Potter Hankin) exemplify the dedication, which the Hankin Group has, not only to the seniors of Chester County, but also to the environment. The Bernard Hankin building is currently in the process of obtaining its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The building will feature a geothermal heating system, consisting of forty-two 500-foot wells and a 47.8 kilowatt solar photovoltaic system, consisting of (184) 260-watt, roof mounted solar panels. They will provide electric that offsets the building's common area utility cost. Residents will enjoy an extremely comfortable living environ, as well as a marked reduction on their energy bills.

The 50,857-foot building, located near the intersections of Pennsylvania Avenue and Rice Boulevard in Exton, PA, will house 50 apartments. Individual living areas will encompass 635 square feet, featuring one bedroom, a full kitchen and full sized appliances. Each unit will boast a lovely view of a courtyard, Eagleview Town Center, the woods, or the corporate center. The three-floor structure will house a community living area on each floor. The lounge on the first floor will be a community lounge/reading room, a media screening room will be featured on the second floor and crafters can get busy with their projects in their third floor lounge. Each floor will also showcase a glass-enclosed lounge that looks out over the Eagleview Town Center.

The Hankin Group has raised senior (affordable) living to a new level in Chester County. Residents and their families extol their clean and well-appointed living spaces, as well as the warm atmosphere and camaraderie that exist in the community. Rosemary Mascherino, whose ninety-one year old mother, Serena Campitelli, is a resident of the Potter Building, explains it this way, "My family is thrilled that we found this great place for my mom to live. It's beautifully decorated. They keep up with all the flowers in the spring and continue to follow suit with every holiday. My mother just loves being a part of their family. And that is exactly what it is. The people are kind, caring and genuinely look out for one another. The camaraderie is overwhelming. There is always someone there during the weekday if any problems should arise. They have various activities, (i.e., movies, luncheons, birthday parties, etc.) all year long. It is very safe and surrounded by beautiful trees, condos, houses, restaurants, a drug store, a hairdresser, etc. It's the perfect place.”

Her mother, Serena, agrees with her daughter, “I very much enjoy residing here because it is quiet, the people are very nice-- good people, no riff raff. They keep the building looking beautiful all the time. The Hankin family is very good to us and they treat everyone at Eagleview like their own. They are very generous. When they have parties for us, the "matriarch of the family" (Henrietta Hankin) is usually present. She is a lovely person and everyone loves her. They recently had a wonderful luncheon for all the seniors over 90 years old with Senator Dinniman presiding over the affair. It was really nice. Living here has literally changed my life. It's a great place to live.”

Mary Pat Kilty, also a resident of the Potter Building, could not agree more, “They have given us the opportunity to be a family. Mrs. Hankin and the Hankin family provide all of this for us. Their kindness and generosity is unbelievable—all year round. We have luncheons, dinners, massage therapy, sit and be fit classes---so much! You can’t believe all that is here.”
