Hearsay Social, provider of the leading enterprise social marketing platform, announced today that its CEO Clara Shih has been named a winner of the “Changing the Game” Award from Advertising Women of New York (AWNY).
The Hearsay Social platform delivers enterprise-class scale, reliability, security, and compliance for enterprises on social media, and some of the world’s largest companies, including Farmers Insurance Group, Northwestern Mutual, Goldman Sachs, 24 Hour Fitness, and Orchard Supply Hardware, use Hearsay Social’s award-winning technology platform to build stronger customer relationships.
“Clara embodies all of the characteristics we value,” said Susan Aminoff, Event Chair for the 2012 AWNY Changing the Game Awards. “She is a visionary and an outstanding leader who built Hearsay Social to empower organizations on social media. She profoundly changed how companies market to consumers.”
The prestigious award recognizes “women within the industry who are true catalysts of innovation—fearlessly making bold moves and reinventing the rules of marketing to transform their brands, their organizations and those of their clients.” Ms. Shih won in the “No Apologies” category, whose recipients were selected by an esteemed independent judging panel based on their ability to create entirely new business models or develop new market opportunities.
“I am humbled by this recognition from AWNY,” said Ms. Shih. “Since creating the first business application for Facebook in 2007, I’ve been convinced of the power of social media to transform the relationship between businesses and their customers. Through proven scale and impactful results, Hearsay Social is fulfilling that vision.”
Ms. Shih was honored today at a private luncheon in New York, sponsored by Bloomberg Businessweek.
Clara Shih is the CEO of Hearsay Social and a pioneer in the social media industry as an engineer, celebrated author, and thought leader. Ms. Shih, who also sits on the Starbucks Board of Directors, previously served as a marketing executive at Salesforce.com, where she led the company’s social networking initiatives and developed the first social business application, Faceconnector, kickstarting the social CRM movement. She is also author of the New York Times-featured bestseller, The Facebook Era: Tapping Online Social Networks to Market, Sell and Innovate, which is now used as a marketing textbook at Harvard Business School. Ms. Shih was named one of FORTUNE’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs of 2011, one of Fast Company’s Most Influential People in Technology, and one of Businessweek’s Top Young Entrepreneurs of 2011.
