London, UK (PRWEB UK) 23 April 2012
Getlunched.com is a mixture of location, business and social networking and launched in Beta late February this year.
The networking lunch and soon-to-launch mobile app, aims to enable people to make the most of the valuable connections around them during their lunch hour. An hour often neglected in favour of eating at one's desk.
Co-Founder Lyndon Gasking said, "Buying someone lunch is a great way to get career advice or new contacts, strike business deals, or just make new friendships. It’s a highly effective way of getting your foot in the door to find the help you need."
The concept is simple, people find a person they would like to have lunch with, they agree to who is paying (there are four choices: ‘I’m buying, you’re buying, 50:50, Open to offers’) and they meet up for lunch.
Getlunched.com also offers users deals on local restaurants to encourage them to step away from the desk and take a decent break. Since launch, many restaurants within London have signed up to offer exclusive deals. MCQueen Shoreditch, Navajo JO, Boulevard Brasserie and Bistro Du Vin in London are some of the restaurants that have embraced this new concept.
Since the Beta launch it has been used for a variety of networking purposes.
Co-founder Matt Bandy said, "Our focus is on using the lunch hour, what you do with it is up to you of course! Whether it’s business, friendship, advice, dating or just to escape the office and meet new interesting people, it’s your lunch hour, we just want to encourage people to use it to make the most of their local connections."
"Whilst building the company we bought lunch for many people to get the start-up advice we needed, people love to help and getting bought lunch is the perfect excuse!"
The Getlunched mobile app will be available soon, but if you have not signed up to the website yet and you live in the UK, you can join with the free invite code: GetlunchedBeta
