Additionally, Rana was also a key member in the launch of the Global Philanthropy Forum, which had participation from CEOs of the largest U.S. companies and major foundations such as Rockefeller and Hewlett. Rana earned a Bachelors of Technology with honors from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and a Masters from University of Colorado. He has also earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati.
