Tina Allen, an internationally respected expert in the field of children’s and infant massage therapy, will present a set of courses related to massage for children at the 2012 American Massage Conference (AMC).
Allen, who is also the founder of leading children’s health and nurturing touch organization Liddle Kidz™ Foundation (LKF), will offer two pediatric massage workshops at the conference. The first, on Saturday, April 21 at 2:00 p.m., will highlight massage techniques for children diagnosed with autism and ADD/ADHD. The second, on Sunday, April 22 at 1:30 p.m., will focus on massage for children with cancer.
“I am thrilled to be presenting on massage for children at this year’s American Massage Conference,” said Allen. “Massage provides so many health benefits to children of all abilities, and I look forward to sharing this important information with conference attendees.”
Allen’s pediatric massage courses, as with the other workshops offered during the conference, are open to healthcare practitioners from multiple disciplines. Continuing education sessions for massage therapy are also provided. During the workshops, attendees will learn about massage and nurturing touch techniques, massage benefits and relevant research facts, innovative uses of pediatric massage and the training process for providing this type of massage therapy.
With more than a decade experience serving children and families, Allen has appeared on NBC and The Learning Channel’s “Bringing Home Baby,” and she currently consults on the development of pediatric massage programs for The Mayo Clinic and other prominent medical centers. Through the Liddle Kidz Foundation, she provides training, education and support for families and professionals to ensure the safe, professional practice of nurturing touch.
“I encourage all healthcare professionals who are interested in expanding their practice to include children’s and infant massage to check out these courses,” said Allen. “Children are our greatest gift, and should be treated with extraordinary care. Pediatric massage is an evidence-based practice that can provide better healthcare for all children.”
The 2012 American Massage Conference (AMC) will take place April 19-22 in San Diego, CA.
