You really have to see it, to sense the activity, fun and warmth of our new common areas.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) April 20, 2012
The Courtyard Portland Downtown/Convention Center (formerly Lloyd Center) is drawing crowds to its re-invented lobby experience, new meeting space, restaurant and bar. "This is far more than an upgrade or redesign," notes Courtyard by Marriott General Manager Peter Kilbourne. "These specific features and services reinforce downtown Portland as a business destination – raising the bar for social, corporate and local events."
Kilbourne extends an open invitation for tours, noting, "You really have to see it, to sense the activity, fun and warmth of our new common areas. There's been a very enthusiastic response from guests who enjoy local microbrews on tap while watching games on multiple big screens or around the fire pit."
By re-inventing the concept of its lobby, Courtyard Portland Downtown/Convention Center doubles its meeting space and adds the following:
New Event Space: 3,111 sq-ft of meeting space, including the new 1,279 sq-ft Pearl Room for up to 144 attendees. Four additional breakout rooms, six pre-function/event areas, and fun outdoor spaces such as the City Veranda, Fireside Terrace, and Elements. In-house customized catering available for all events.
Green Meetings & Business Practices: Make Green Meetings happen with linen-less meeting tables, recycled paper products, composting and recycling, eco-friendly cleaning products, energy efficient lighting, and low-flow faucets and shower heads.
Charley’s Restaurant: Redesigned as a breakfast, lunch and dinner destination for local residents and hotel guests alike, Charley's serves fresh, local, seasonal fare, along with exceptional service. The restaurant offers semi-private dining areas with customizable event setup.
Charley’s Bar: A high-tech, open, modern look, Charley's Bar includes five, 55" TVs with DirecTV sports packages, Courtyard’s signature communal table with WIFI, comfortable sectional and traditional seating, fireplace, and sustainable local flare. Step outside and sink in to the cozy sectional seating on The Fireside Terrace— a comfortable outdoor hideaway with fire pit and full bar access. Happy Hour deals happen Mon-Fri, 4pm-7pm.
GoBoard® Technology: Interactive 55" LCD touch-screen packed with local information, maps, weather, news, business and sports headlines. The intuitive format helps guests find restaurants, local attractions and directions.
Courtyard by Marriott has already rolled out the extended lobby in many of its hotels across the nation. "It's proving an exciting advantage for all of our guests, and we look forward to the reception in Portland," said Kilbourne.
