Concentrating our hydrogen and air quality gas sensing capabilities in Germany strengthens our position as a Tier One supplier to the automotive industry. It also demonstrates that we are committed to supporting hydrogen as a renewable power initiative.
Reutlingen, Germany (PRWEB) April 18, 2012
AppliedSensor, a designer and manufacturer of gas sensor solutions, today announced that it will consolidate research, development and production of gas sensing products at its facility in Reutlingen, Germany and divest its operations in Linköping, Sweden to long-term strategic partner INFICON AB. The worldwide design and manufacture of AppliedSensor air quality sensors and modules for the automotive, building automation, appliance and consumer industries will remain unchanged.
“Concentrating our hydrogen and air quality gas sensing capabilities in Germany strengthens our position as a Tier One supplier to the automotive industry,” said AppliedSensor CEO Stefan Raible. “It also demonstrates that we are committed to supporting hydrogen as a renewable power initiative.”
Renewable power initiatives depend on reliable detection of hydrogen under rugged environmental conditions in fuel cell systems and other hydrogen economy applications. For these applications, AppliedSensor offers the Models HLS-440, HLS-440P and HPS-100 hydrogen sensors covering different hydrogen concentration ranges and IP protection levels. The company is a pioneer of field effect (FE) gas sensor technology which is based on the field effect generated by gas atoms in a MOSFET device with a catalytic gate metal.
“This is a very positive step that will accelerate the development of more products for more markets for both companies,” said INFICON President and CEO Lukas Winkler.
INFICON (SIX Swiss Exchange: IFCN) is a provider of instrumentation, critical sensor technologies and process control software that enhance productivity and quality in industrial vacuum processes. The company’s analysis, measurement and control products are used for gas leak detection in air conditioning/refrigeration and other applications. INFICON is headquartered in Switzerland and has manufacturing facilities in Europe, the United States and China, as well as subsidiaries internationally.
