Perpetuum Software announces the availability of Silverlight Viewer for Reporting Services 2012, the first native Silverlight component designed to view Reporting Services reports in Silverlight applications.

Silverlight Viewer for Reporting Services is absolutely compatible with SQL Server 2012.

On April 1, 2012, SQL Server 2012 codename Denali was released for purchase. As one of Perpetuum’s main products is Silverlight Viewer for Reporting Services the company couldn’t ignore this event.

“Of course, the first step was a complete test of our component for compatibility with this new server. We installed our product on Denali, made some tests and got wonderful results. Silverlight Viewer for Reporting Services is absolutely compatible with SQL Server 2012.” – Mikhail Payson, Perpetuum Software CTO states. “Moreover, no changes to the component settings have to be done when migrating from SQL Server 2008 to Denali.” – Mikhail Payson continues.

If there is a need to use new features of Reporting Services such as export to XLSX and DOCX, some changes to the application code should be added, but this is just some lines of code. All basic functions of SQL Server 2012 are supported by Silverlight Viewer for Reporting Services and don’t require any modifications to the application.

So, all customers using Perpetuum Silverlight Viewer can easily and seamlessly migrate from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2012 without any changes of the client side of the application that will just work in the same way.
