Standing Cloud (http://www.standingcloud.com), a leading provider of cloud-based application management solutions, today announced it has added support for OpenStack® in public and private cloud computing environments.

The move reflects Standing Cloud’s continued commitment to providing cloud customers with maximum choice and flexibility in emerging cloud platforms and infrastructure environments, and reaffirms its long-time support for both open source software and evolving industry standards.

The addition of OpenStack (http://openstack.org), an open source cloud operating system available under the Apache license, adds to the company’s previous integration and support for comparable commercial systems, including VMware vCloud®, Eucalyptus, Flexiant, Nimbula and OnApp. In addition, the Standing Cloud platform integrates with numerous proprietary APIs and orchestration services, including those available from Amazon Web Services, SoftLayer Technologies, GoGrid, and others.

“At Standing Cloud, we are committed to OpenStack and its community, and to open approaches to the cloud in general. We believe that customers want to leverage the infrastructure cloud, without limiting their future options. By offering broad-based support for all major APIs and infrastructure management platforms, including OpenStack, we can help them recognize that goal,” said David Jilk, CEO of Standing Cloud.

Standing Cloud’s new capabilities are functional in a test environment today. The company is also collaborating with several public cloud providers on final OpenStack integrations, to offer these capabilities to customers on the platform once they become available.

"We're pleased that companies like Standing Cloud are joining the OpenStack community to help make application deployment and management platforms available to customers of OpenStack-based clouds," said Mark Collier, VP of Marketing & Business Development for OpenStack at Rackspace (http://www.rackspace.com).

OpenStack is an open source infrastructure layer orchestration system that provisions and manages virtual machine resources in a physical data center.

Since its launch in 2009, Standing Cloud has been a strong supporter of open source software and the open source community. Its standard application catalog includes more than 100 open-source and commercial applications; its Platform-as-as-Service (PaaS) capabilities support multiple programming languages, including Rails, PHP, Java and Python; and it manages applications portably on several distributions of Linux.
