Genesis Fertility Centre, one of Canada’s largest IVF clinics (http://www.genesis-fertility.com), has been ranked as one of the best places to work in the 2012 list of “Best Workplaces in Canada,” an annual survey conducted by the Great Place to Work® Institute of Canada, Inc (GPTW). This list will appear in a special national report on Thursday April 19th, 2012, in The Globe and Mail.
“We are honoured to have received this prestigious recognition,” said Dr. Al Yuzpe, co-founder and co-director of Genesis. “What makes this award so meaningful to us is that it reflects how our employees feel about working at Genesis. We are committed to being a workplace that attracts the best in the field and fosters a high performance, collaborative environment that ensures patients receive the highest level of care.”
As a recognized leader in the field of reproductive medicine, Genesis promotes a culture of life-long learning and self-development, supporting staff to attend conferences, pursue research, and constantly work to improve their clinical protocols.
“The one thing that makes Genesis such an extraordinary place to work is our shared sense of purpose,” said Dr. Gary Nakhuda, reproductive endocrinologist. “Everyone working here, no matter what their role, is aware that they are playing a critical part in working towards the single common goal of helping to build families. Being surrounded by such smart, dedicated, kind, fantastic people inspires me to bring out the best in myself.”
The selection process of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is based on two criteria. Two-thirds of the total score derive from a 58-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees who also deliver their open-ended comments about their organization. The remaining one-third of the score derives from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. These two together supply a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective as well as an overall portrait of the workplace culture. They also provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building aspects of a great place to work: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
This year’s “Best Workplaces in Canada” list received more than 230 nominations; over 49,000 employees participated in the 2012 survey.
Since opening its doors in 1995, Genesis has grown to be one of the largest IVF clinics in Canada, offering a comprehensive range of assisted reproductive technologies, including IUI, IVF, ICSI, PGD, surgical sperm retrieval, cryopreservation, oocyte, and sperm donation.
