Chicago Scholars has selected College Greenlight as the premier platform for its scholars to discover and connect with member colleges online.

Chicago Scholars provides resources and support from college search through college graduation to more than 800 students throughout the Chicago area. In addition to its own students, Chicago Scholars collaborates with dozens of regional community-based organizations to reach more students and better leverage local resources. College Greenlight is a website that provides a unique set of free college search and profile tools, making it possible for first-generation and underrepresented students to attend their best-fit colleges and achieve better college outcomes.

Through this partnership, Chicago Scholars participants will be able to use College Greenlight to research and narrow down their best-fit schools before they apply. In addition, as the first Greenlight Premier Partner, Chicago Scholars will collaborate with College Greenlight on marketing and product development activities to further their common mission.

“Chicago Scholars and College Greenlight selected each other based on our similar vision of expanding the options available to students so they can attend the best college for them academically, socially and financially,” said Jonathan April, general manager of College Greenlight. “We both recognize that more needs to be done to help first-generation and underserved students discover and present themselves to colleges that are a good fit.”

Chicago Scholars’ national college network will have the opportunity to use College Greenlight for ongoing connections with potential applicants, meeting students from a variety of backgrounds that will be successful on their campuses. College Greenlight will be an important resource for Chicago Scholars’ students, mentors and counselors, providing support in the development of best-fit college lists, in-depth information on college options, access to the web’s largest database of scholarship opportunities and tools to help track student outcomes.

“We look forward to using College Greenlight to help our scholars achieve their best possible college outcomes,” said Karen Foley, president of Chicago Scholars. “Our partner colleges have been asking for a way to meet and communicate with our students online. College Greenlight will enhance opportunities for our students to find their best matches, leading to increased student opportunity and success.”
