CPI's New Hot Aisle Containment Solution

Energy required to cool the data center has traditionally constituted 30-50% of the entire data center energy budget. It is the single largest controllable operating expense.

Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI) will demonstrate its latest innovation in data center efficiency by exhibiting a Hot Aisle Containment Solution at Interop Las Vegas 2012, held May 6-10 at Mandalay Bay. Known globally as a pioneer of thermal management solutions, CPI manufactures voice, data and security products, as well as service solutions that optimize, store and secure technology equipment.

The energy savings found in Aisle Containment are an ideal fit for the annual Interop event, which offers educational programs, workshops and exhibits that address the specific needs of an ever-changing IT industry.

“Energy required to cool the data center has traditionally constituted 30-50% of the entire data center energy budget,” said Ian Seaton, CPI Global Technology Manager. “It is the single largest controllable operating expense. And now that data centers are included in ASHRAE 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, state energy and building codes will begin prescribing economizers for new data centers or major expansions and upgrades. These major capital expenses can be recouped much more quickly with an intelligent white space design for effective air flow management.”

This striking and efficient Aisle Containment Solution, which can be found in booth 1667, is targeted at reducing the rising energy costs for high density enterprise data centers. Using four of its glacier white F-Series TeraFrame® Cabinets, a sleek new self-closing door and a vertical exhaust duct, containment solutions such as this can increase cooling efficiency by 3x, while broadening the air temperature envelope with 4x higher heat and power densities.

In addition to manufacturing products and solutions that optimize data centers, CPI is hosting a Data Center Power and Cooling Efficiency Seminar with 10 stops across the US and Canada. For a complete list of dates and locations visit http://www.chatsworth.com/data-center-seminar.
