Meathead Movers, a small business that currently employs hundreds of young people ages 18-24, is looking to fill jobs for the summer and beyond in their San Luis Obispo, Camarillo, and Orange County locations.

In January, President Obama announced an initiative called Summer Jobs+. The administration’s goal is to identify 250,000 employment opportunities by the start of summer, including 100,000 paid opportunities.

Aaron and Evan Steed started Meathead Movers in 1997, when Aaron was a high school junior and Evan a freshman. Because of their school and athletic commitments, the two were having difficulties finding part-time work that fit around their busy schedules. One day the brothers helped a friend's parents to move. This led to some immediate word of mouth about their labor service. The customary fee back then was usually $20.00 and pizza for a day’s labor. The Steeds enjoyed the workout of moving, but they also enjoyed the gratitude they received from their clients after a job well done. So began the journey of Meathead Movers.

Fifteen years later, the company has grown to service the entire state of California, and includes a state-of-the-art storage facility, sister company Princess Packers and becoming a household name for those who need movers in Los Angeles and beyond. Meathead Movers standardizes the process of moving using clean-cut athletic young men as movers and providing a 100% money-back satisfaction guarantee. The company draws on Aaron and Evan’s wrestling and martial arts backgrounds to encourage discipline, hard work and dedication among employees.

Many of the young men and women who started out in entry level positions have now become management and take an active role in shaping the company. Several longtime employees have gotten married, purchased homes, and achieved other life milestones while working for the company.
