Humber College’s Bachelor of Journalism degree is a four year program offered at the Lakeshore Campus. The program teaches students how to incorporate social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook into their daily journalism, while also training them in researching, reporting, and interviewing. Students will learn to combine audio, text and video in a web-based environment, to manage and produce more engaging content. The curriculum was designed around the input of leading journalists and media professionals to ensure students receive all of the necessary skills to succeed in today’s competitive industry.
Students enrolled in the Journalism degree will also have the opportunity to complete a fourteen-week work placement in the summer between years three and four. This provides them with hands on experience and valuable networking opportunities with professionals already working in digital communication and journalism. The Greater Toronto Area is a hub for the media industry, and offers many placements for students. Students enrolled in this program will receive not only a degree, but also practical experience to progress their professional development and skill sets.
