If Carl Sagan were an evolutionary biologist he would look and sound a lot like Rebecca Costa, the author of best-selling book The Watchman’s Rattle and host of radio news program, The Costa Report. Known for pushing the frontiers of pop-science, Costa announced today that a mobile app designed to give followers instant access to full-length radio programs, calendar updates, videos, book reviews, speaking engagements, and more is now available via Apple iTunes. The app can be downloaded to an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch by clicking on http://bit.ly/JdieD3 or searching “Rebecca Costa” using the App Store icon on any Apple device. The app will soon be available on other platforms.
When asked why an author would invest in a mobile app, Costa replied, “If you have a message to get out, then you have to leverage all mediums, and that includes hosting a content-rich web site, posting on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin, pushing radio, television, print, blogs – everything! A mobile app is an important piece of that puzzle.”
Costa challenged eLab Communications of Monterey, California, to build a mobile app that was consistent with the pop science figure’s brand. Marketing Director, Linda Gulley explained, “In addition to a book which has been licensed around the world, a syndicated radio program, speaking tour and media appearances, we’re on the cusp of announcing a weekly internet television show, so it was important to select a partner who could help us extend our brand presence.”
Costa’s weekly radio program, The Costa Report, brings renowned newsmakers such as Ron Paul, Alan Dershowitz, Michael Dukakis, Paul Ehrlich, Jared Diamond, Michelle Rhee, etc., to the table for a one-hour interview on the issues of the day. The new mobile app will allow listeners to download episodes of The Costa Report at their leisure, as well as provide links to related sites.
About Rebecca D. Costa
Rebecca Costa is a sociobiologist who offers a genetic explanation for current events and emerging trends. A new voice in the mold of Thomas Friedman, Costa examines “the big picture”– tracing everything from terrorism, crime on Wall Street, epidemic obesity and upheaval in the Middle East to evolutionary imperatives. Retiring from her executive career in Silicon Valley, Costa spent six years researching and writing The Watchman’s Rattle: Thinking Our Way Out of Extinction. The success of Costa’s book led to a weekly radio program in 2010 called The Costa Report as well as a weekly television news program called Countermeasures. A former CEO and founder of one of the largest marketing firms in Silicon Valley (sold in 1997 to J. Walter Thompson), Costa developed a track record of introducing new technologies to mainstream markets. Her clients included industry giants such as Hewlett-Packard, Apple Computer, Oracle Corporation, Seibel Systems, 3M, Amdahl, and General Electric Corporation.
