NU Hotel Brooklyn Announces the Opening Date for One of the Largest Sidewalk Cafés in Downtown Brooklyn and Facebook Contest to Name a Cocktail

NU Hotel Brooklyn, the borough’s greenest and most artist friendly hotel, has established May 1, 2012 as the grand opening for their brand new 416-square-foot sidewalk café. Debuting just in time for summer, the sidewalk cafe will become one of the largest sidewalk cafés in Downtown Brooklyn.

The café and bar concept, which has not yet released its name or menu, features two big names from the New York restaurant scene: Chef Jehangir Mehta and Milos Zica. Chef Jehangir Mehta, owner of Lower East Side’s Graffiti and Tribeca’s Mehtaphor, located at the Duane Street Hotel, is designing a unique tapas menu for lunch and dinner at the café.

Milos Zica, Master Mixologist and Principal Bartender at New York’s Employees Only, has varied and original cocktail mixings planned for NU’s new bar, which will feature a seasonally-rotating menu. In anticipation of the opening, NU Hotel Brooklyn is hosting a three-week long contest running until Tuesday, May 15th. Friends and guests of the hotel’s social media networks are invited to name the bar’s signature cocktail, created by Zica. Details about the contest can be found on NU Hotel’s Facebook here.

According to NU Hotel GM Javier Egipciaco, “we are very excited for the opening of the sidewalk café and look forward to a successful inaugural summer. We hope the current contest to name one of Milos Zica’s specialty cocktails will generate a competitive spirit among the local community, while spreading the word about the amazing drinks our bar has to offer.” The chosen name for the cocktail will be picked by Zica and announced on Friday, May 18th. The winner will receive a $100 bar tab at the Café / Bar and permanent placement on the menu.
