Collaboration is going to be what distinguishes successful companies in any industry but individual intellectual property must be preserved, which requires secure infrastructure with identity management as a key component.

Intercede (LON:IGP), the producer of MyID®, a world-leader in identity and credential management systems, together with its partners Deep-Secure and adept4 today launched the world’s first Secure Email Service based on TSCP specification and delivered as a software as a service (SaaS) model. Unlike traditionally deployed email, the Secure Email Service uses a proven platform to provide an assured way of sharing information, which stops data loss, delivers policy control and reduces the risk of security breaches.
The Secure Email Service, designed and engineered using the Transglobal Secure Collaboration Program (TSCP) standards-based specifications, combines Intercede’s MyID identity and credential management system with Deep-Secure’s Mail Guard email security platform. The solution is delivered as a managed service by adept4.
By enabling the creation of assured identities and issuance of trusted credentials, Intercede’s MyID® provides the basis for ensuring control over the sharing of sensitive data, meaning companies know who is sending what to whom, when and whether it is what’s intended. It links to Deep-Secure’s Mail Guard robust security platform, which delivers tightly controlled policy to enforce data labelling, digital message signing, encryption and checking of the actual content. adept4 package the service together, providing full end-to-end service management including provisioning support, capacity management and real-time monitoring and reporting. This is delivered by a 24/7 UK-based service desk.
The SaaS solution is built using TSCP standards-based specifications designed and developed to meet the most stringent information security standards for use in high security environments within HM Government, the Ministry of Defence and NATO. The TSCP specification was piloted by a number of organizations including Lockheed Martin, Thales, Raytheon, Cassidian and General Dynamics for the Signed and Encrypted Email Over The Internet (SEEOTI) initiative, sponsored by The UK Council for Electronic Business (UKCeB).
Richard Parris, CEO of Intercede said: “Email is the primary method of information sharing for two thirds of organizations but using a non-secured service leaves them open to a range of threats. Many organizations are unaware of the security issues surrounding email, have a limited security infrastructure and do not prioritize the need to protect themselves. Collaboration is going to be what distinguishes successful companies in any industry but individual intellectual property must be preserved, which requires secure infrastructure with identity management as a key component.”
Commenting on the new Secure Email Service, Robin King, Sales and Marketing Director at Deep-Secure said: “Our SaaS offer reduces the risk of losing data through loss or theft of sensitive information, including intellectual property, employee data, customer information and financial detail. It also reduces the cost of resolving issues, paying fines and running inefficient operations where the sharing of sensitive information is currently done manually.”
Peter Birkett, CEO at adept4 added: “Secure information sharing is a critical capability, particularly in the aerospace and defense industries where this service has been successfully trialed, and in highly regulated sectors like financial services. Our solution is an easy, cost effective secure email service that enables effective supply chain contracts and compliance. It is particularly pertinent to small and medium size businesses (SMB) where typically this kind of service is complex and costly to set up, but with our SaaS model, SMB’s have a flexible, cost effective option for the first time”.

Secure Email Service components:
In the Secure Email Service, MyID issues each user a FIPS-compatible smart card containing keys and certificates via a simple web-based interface, which is then used to facilitate secure email. With capabilities for reporting and auditing, MyID can also be used to produce a signed audit trail, full traceability and non-repudiation of actions.
The DeepSecure Mail Guard provides the Secure Email Service with the security to ensure that the content being shared is not compromised or inadvertently released. It controls the policy used to verify that users can send or receive information at the right sensitivity level and provides a full alerting and auditing capability to support the necessary integrity of the service.
Exploiting twenty years’ experience in hosted email service delivery, adept4 safely hosts email in security accredited data centres located throughout the UK. These centres are sustained by a 24/7 security cleared helpdesk who ensure users benefit from first-rate service at all times. adept4 brings together knowledge of all the vital components, procedures and security considerations in one fully managed simple service.
