The Nature Conservancy announced today that it is proud to partner with Macy’s this spring to generate awareness and support for the environment and the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest. The goal is to raise $1 million for conservation efforts for the largest remaining tropical forest on our planet.
“Rainforests are amongst the most diverse habitats on Earth. They’re home to tens of thousands of unique plants and animals – and home to indigenous communities living traditional lives. Rainforests provide life's essentials such as medicines, food and water,” said Dr. M. Sanjayan, lead scientist for The Nature Conservancy. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share the marvel of the rainforest, and its importance to our lives, with Macy’s shoppers.”
During the campaign, Macy’s will raise funds for The Nature Conservancy’s Brazil program in two ways:
- From April 22 through July 15, the Conservancy will receive 10% of the sale price of every product sold within the O Mercado, a specially curated shop featuring merchandise from Brazil and inspired by Brazil in 299 of Macy’s 800 stores nationwide and on macys.com; and
- From May 13 through May 31, Macy’s will invite customers to “Give, Get and Save the Rainforest” at their local Macy’s and macys.com. Customers who give $3 will receive a savings pass for 15-20% off store-wide and Macy’s will donate 100% of every $3 to the Conservancy. Exclusions apply.
The Amazon helps clean the air that we breathe by absorbing carbon dioxide and giving off oxygen. Protecting the Amazon Rainforest keeps carbon from being emitted into the air. In addition, more than 1/3 of the Earth’s plants and animals live there and 14 million people call the Amazon home.

While the campaign can be previewed in early spring through events and curated shops, Macy’s Brazil campaign will officially kick-off on May 16. The goal for the promotion is $1 million in funding for the Conservancy and its efforts to protect the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest.
