Element Mobile announced today that it has reached an agreement with the State of Wisconsin’s Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection to settle a number of consumer complaints from early 2011.

The customer complaints stem from a challenging period in early 2011 when the Element Mobile was being formed as part of a switchover from the former Alltel Wireless, said Jerry Wilke, chief operations officer for the company. Element Mobile regrets that the situation negatively affected customers and has made many changes as result, he said.

“Element Mobile regrets any problems incurred by customers during the switchover period. We worked with the state to make sure anyone deserving reimbursement receives it. Most importantly, we cleared up any service problems that arose from the switchover and we are excited about a number of positive developments planned in 2012,” Wilke said.

Some of the exciting things to expect for Element Mobile in 2012 include new stores, extensive community sponsorship and involvement and continued excellent value and unique product and service offerings for wireless customers. Since the beginning of 2011, Element Mobile has worked hard to resolve its early challenges and to significantly improve the company, Wilke said. Some of its efforts included: significant investments in new towers and equipment to improve coverage and signal quality, the creation of a customer-service management system to ensure higher service quality and building a strong program to sponsor and support local events in order to give back to the community.

The settlement applies to customers of Element Mobile from January-March 2011 who previously filed complaints with the state about service and billing.

The state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection division is handling administration of the settlement. The department can be contacted at http://www.datcp.wisconsin.gov, datcphotline(at)wisconsin(dot)gov or 1-800-422-7128.
