Duke Mahl is the great nephew of Alex J. Morrison and plans to protect the renewed interest in the memory of his legendary great uncle with the establishment of the Morrison Heirs Foundation. A first step in this process has begun with a Kickstarter Project campaign to raise funding for travel, research, interviews and transcriptions of known associates of Alex J. Morrison as well as writing a book that ties together the fascinating history of the four Morrison brothers who were all professional golfers.
Duke Mahl describes his Great Uncle Alex J. Morrison as “one of the most influential golf instructors in the history of the game, and yet his legacy has been all but buried for the past 70 years!” Alex J. Morrison’s teachings have been the foundation for Jack Nicklaus and several other household names.
Duke Mahl expects to have Alex Morrison inducted into the Golf Hall of Fame under the “lifetime achievement category” for his contributions to the game.
Alex J. Morrison impacted the game through research, photography, teaching, exhibition matches, stage shows and two books, “Better Golf Without Practice” and “A New Way to Better Golf.” He was ahead of his time in terms of visualization techniques. Alex J. Morrison’s two books are considered to be the foundation of modern golf instruction.
